Knowledge management system is related to managing knowledge in the organizations. It includes development, storage and distribution of information (Dinsmore & Cabanis-Brewin, 2006).

In the recent years, the field of knowledge management has become highly popular. Organizations are using various tools and techniques in knowledge management. The field has shown drastic changes and improvements due to the advancement in technology. The ability to capture, store and disseminate information has improved a lot. Currently, the field of knowledge management is receiving great attention from the corporate world. Both the government owned corporation and private companies are making a good investment in this field.

Our organization is operating in pharmaceutical industry and primarily engaged in manufacturing, development and distribution of generic drugs. The industry generates high sales and profits but it is facing strong competition. Industry faces many problems such as related to R& D, prices, legal issues, branding, patents and shareholder returns. These challenges have put a pressure on the firms to adopt the knowledge management. Thus, it is decided to make significant amount of investment in the knowledge management system.
