Project management tools and techniques are used to solve the challenges and problems the Eurotunnel project will face. The PMBOK tools and techniques used are Gantt Chart, Critical Path Method (CPM) and Project Evaluation Review Techniques (PERT). For example, if the Eurotunnel project is the construction of a new tunnel to link England and France. The activities necessary for the completion of this project along with the relevant information for each activity are listed in the following table 1 below.
These tools help to define the eurotunnel project scope, time schedule and cost and other unforeseen challenges that may arrised. In the eurotunnel project, challenges should monitored and handled till the completion of the project in order to make the project successful.
If these project managements tools and techniques such as Gantt Chart, CPM and PERT, not used, the project and the project manager for the eurotunnel project will have to face the following challenges:
1). Failure to define the eurotunnel project scope. The activities to be performed each day and week will be will not be clear or known by the project team. Table 1, Figure 1 and Figure 2 above shows a define timetable schedule from start of the project to completion time.
