FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE: Oversees and coordinates the evaluation and the initial dvelopment of applications for state-of-the-art data processing equipment and various information system technologies.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Knowledge of major USPS business areas and supporting field functions.

2. Knowledge of state-of-the-art and leading edge Information Systems related technologies at a level sufficient to oversee and coordinate the development of prototype business applications of new technologies.

3. Ability to conduct research (locate resources and collect data) related to technology applications, directions and trends.

4. Ability to analyze user information requirements and recommend technological solutions.

5. Ability to define and negotiate standard approaches that allow for the efficient reuse of successful new technology prototypes in multiple business areas and applications.

6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to prepare and present business cases, strategies, and statements of work.

SITUATION: I was in a computer support service group where there were mismatches between the requirements of the customers and the parts delivered to them.
TASK: I was required to stream line the delivery system so that mismatches do not take place.
ACTION: I coordinated the system that received the customer requests for parts with the Express Mail service of the USPS.
RESULT: Because of the automatic generation of part information sheets and coordination of details with the USPS the mismatches were reduced to nil. In addition, the parts were delivered to the customers the very next day.
