Select a well-known company (e.g., Amazon, eBay, Wal-Mart). Select an emerging technology not currently in use at the company (perhaps something like wireless networks or PDAs) and prepare a 700-1,050-word proposal for management to justify the need for this new technology in the organization. At a minimum, discuss what the technology is and how it works, benefits it will provide, and any potential negative aspects of the technology. In a separate 350-word document, discuss how an effective leader can manage the change that implementing this new technology might require.

The well known company selected is Wal-Mart. The emerging technology not being currently used is the PDA. We propose that a larger number of PDAs should be used in Wal-Mart. For example the stock clerks at Wal-Mart need to answer question correctly about the merchandise, take inventory and made decisions about reordering, compare digitally stored invoices with actual invoices, requisition merchandise from the supplier and design advertising signs to promote sales. Each of these functions can best be performed with the help of a PDA.
