For anyone in a managerial or supervisory role, I believe it is imperative to be viewed as a leader. In order to achieve this, it is vital to lead by example, continuously showcasing the ability to "walk the walk and talk the talk" (i.e. what is good for my subordinates is good for me). One of the quickest ways to lose credibility as a leader is to live by "do as I say, not as I do." Subordinates often equate this attitude as the manager/supervisor "being above" what is considered appropriate for others.
