Contemporary Leadership Models by Wren (1995)
Transactional Leadership Style: In this type of leadership style, the subordinates, and the leader develops a commitment among themselves, where the subordinate agrees to perform work for reward or recognition. The transactional leadership style is the one in which there is no attachment between the leader and the subordinate. Each one agrees to do the work for the want of something in return. This type of leadership style exists for a shorter period of time and reward is the only factor that motivates both of them to work with each other. It does not bring any changes in the working of the organization, but only maintains a general flow of work within an organization. Leaders follow transactional leadership style just to make the follower do their work and to deviate their mind from any kind of distractions or disturbances (Akintunde, 2013).
Transformational Leadership Style: This is a kind of leadership style, where the leader tries to bring some kind of changes in the organization by encouraging or motivating the follower to perform his best.
