Yes this was the right thing to do. Making it available to the internal marketplace for new technology allows the internal customers to try the new technology. Explore its usefulness in its present manufacturing process. In addition, it helps the company reduce the overall cost of trade by finding natural matches from the order flow and thereby making the sales more profitable. In addition, making Novaplast available to internal marketplace for new technology helps the creation of internal efficiencies by integrating various functional entities, geographical units and related system by means of an automated internal marketplace system which matches orders and production of Novaplast.

Initially, the purpose of Lankton was to encourage different plants to try the machine and ascertain if it was useful. For this reason, he did not make it mandatory for the internal customers to purchase the machine but offered it on lease from the head office so that the plants interested in Novaplast could try the machine with very little commitment. The tactic was to encourage the use and experimentation with the machine. The plants could use the machine at different stages of their manufacturing process and ascertain the best possible point where the machine could be used. They could work out the cost/benefit analysis for the use of Novaplast in their production process and could investigate the worth of quality/productivity improvement from the machine. They could work out the manpower required to operate Novaplast and factor in its costs.

Most importantly, the plants can find out if there is any real advantage they can derive from Novaplast they will incorporate the machine in their process of production and this will lead to a regular demand for Novaplast.
