Analyzing and summarizing survey data

A researcher has to conduct surveys both at the primary and secondary level to carry out a research process. The primary survey includes the survey conducted on targeted population. The target population is vast and therefore, the researcher has to cover only a segment of the population. While selecting the target segment from a given population, a researcher has to be careful about the representation of the overall population. There are the methods for selecting segment depending on the size of the population, and the nature of the research. Still, any given method cannot claim to select the segment which can represent the population in an accurate manner.

A survey sample covers segments of target population in proportions, but they can be different from the proportions of those segments in the population itself. This can be due to various factors, such as sampling fluctuations, non response or inability of sample design to cover the entire populations. The ...
