We begin with a concept. In Work and Nature of Man, Fredrick Herzberg advocated the use of motivator factors as compared to hygiene factors to increase job satisfaction. The factors advocated by him were achievement, recognition, work itself, responsibility, advancement and growth. The management approach to motivate my team to unprecedented productivity would be to enable team members to achieve, get satisfaction from the work itself, and have opportunities for promotion. The top performers should be awarded team members should each be given specific responsibility and there should be a roadmap for growth. Specific strategies can be a recognition certificate given publicly for top performers. They may also be given a cash prize. Other strategies include public appreciation for employees that have performed well and have over-achieved. Management can use the strategy of having individualized performance evaluation for each employee. Each employee should be given specific responsibilities that are mentioned beforehand and rewards in the form of promotion should also be mentioned if the responsibly are achieved. After the period of evaluation the achievement is matched with the actual performance and if the team member has achieved, he must be rewarded with the promotion that was promised.
