The Internet has become a life form all its own. It is continuously evolving and has no end in sight. Looking at it from an ethical business standpoint, The International Business Ethics Institute strives to make the Internet an ethical business medium. A nonprofit organization founded in 1994 to promote business ethics and corporate responsibility, the IBEI works on two key program areas: "increase public awareness and dialogue about international business ethics issues through such educational resources and activities as the Roundtable Discussion Series, the International Business Ethics Review and this website" and working "closely with companies to assist them in establishing effective international ethics programs." They are dedicated to providing business ethics information that reflects "positive, tangible changes that responsible business can generate." (IBEI, 2005)

The IBEI privacy policy is strictly adhered to. The IBEI "considers its database to be proprietary and confidential. It never rents, sells, or shares database information with any individual or organization. The Institute neither markets nor sends out mass mailings to individuals within its database." They only share information about visitors when required to do so under penalty of law. Additionally, they do not use their site to "to promote or to endorse the products or services of any individual or organization." (IBEI, 2005)
