Group Decision Making

Introduction
A group is a collection of individuals who are related to one another in a way that makes them interdependent to achieve a common goal. The behavior and performance of groups provide a mechanism for the accomplishment of organizational goals. Group decision making is an activity, which lets the meeting of people with heterogeneous characteristics. These people can understand the problems in a better manner and hence originate creative alternatives leading to effective group performance. In constituting groups, each individual perceives group goals as the personal goals and feels inspired to follow group norms to achieve the goals (Johnson & Johnson, 2000).
Decision making process
The decision making process used by the group is the 'Consensus Technique' with effective use of group cohesiveness (Harris, 1998). The decision making process involves the following steps:
 Identify and specify decision problem and identify decision objectives
 Formulate decision alternatives
