Systematic Evaluation of Departments/Services
Evaluations could be used in my organization in many ways. The company which I work for is a regional chain of grocery stores that is thoroughly integrated: the organization operates a distribution center, a bakery, a fleet of trucks, a merchandising crew, a design and graphic facility, a security department, a repair department, and several factories that produce private label products for the stores. A systematic evaluation system, as suggested in the Preskill and Russ-Eft Systems Models found in our text book (Moseley, Dessigner, 2009) would help to evaluate each of these functions to determine their worth to the company.
Since the heart of the evaluation is the evaluation process, it would be important to design the evaluation in a manner that would enable the organization to collect and analyze the data, and then communicate and report the findings to the organization. It is pointed out that the system's model framework is dependent upon the 'evaluator's choices in various steps within the evaluation process which are influenced by the evaluator's characteristics' (Moesley, ...
