Introduction of Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless is considered America's most dependable and leading wireless and voice and data network, together with the biggest 3G broadband network of U.S. It is the chief wireless carrier in the U.S. boasting a figure of 87.7 million customers and the maximum customer loyalty within the industry. It has employee strength of more than 87,000 people with an annual revenue touching $58.6 billion (About Us- Overview, 2009). With it's headquarter in Basking Ridge, N.J., Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone.

After introducing Verizon Wireless, we will talk about the associations of the Company. We have identified Verizon's relationship with Qualcomm and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D). In the subsequent section, we will analyze the joint venture between Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm. //

Joint Venture between Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm

Qualcomm Incorporated is the chief player in developing and delivering novel digital wireless communications products and services, supported on CDMA and other sophisticated expertise (Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm Announce Joint Venture, 2009). Qualcomm Incorporated and Verizon Wireless entered into an agreement to outline a joint venture for making available "Machine-to-Machine" (M2M) wireless communications and smart services offerings, across extensive market segments, which consists of healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, distribution and consumer products.

The joint venture, owned equally by Qualcomm and Verizon Wireless and whose name remains to be determined, aims to be placed to offer a single source for end-to-end M2M solutions (Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm Announce Joint Venture, 2009). It wishes to capitalize on the intensification of M2M and smart services. The new joint venture hopes to make use of Qualcomm's highly developed connectivity technologies and Verizon Wireless' know-how and basic device certification procedure.
