    Below I will highlight a two private-sector employers as well as some of their best practices that were the most interesting to me in my research for this posting.

    Bureau of National Affairs, Inc.

    • Publishing company based in Washington, D.C. - all stock is held by retirees and employees of the company and is the oldest fully employee-owned company in the U.S.

    • Best Practices:
    o BNA has several opportunities for promotions and career advancement and all of the opportunities are open to all employees, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Some of those opportunities are. (EEOC, 2012)

     Temporary Transfer Program - This allows managers to use temporary vacancies as a way to allow employees to move into other position.
