Northrop Grumman Corporation is a global integrated defense and aerospace company formed in 1994 with the acquisition of Grumman by Northrop. Its businesses cover the entire security spectrum from outer space, undersea to cyberspace. The company works in four business segments: Electronic systems segment which provides defense electronics and systems, early warning systems, space systems, marine systems, communication systems, navigation systems, air space management systems, situational awareness system, airborne fire control radars, and logistics services for civil, military and commercial customers in the United States and internationally; Aerospace systems segment which offers high-energy laser systems, manned and unmanned aircraft, microelectronics, spacecraft, and other systems and subsystems in the areas of battle management, electronic warfare, earth observation, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, strike operations, communications, missile defense, space exploration, and space science; Technical services segment which offers infrastructure, logistics, and sustenance support services as well as technical services including simulation and training; and Information systems segment which provides products and services focusing on communications, control, command, intelligence and computers, airborne reconnaissance, air and missile defense, decision support systems, intelligence processing, systems engineering and integration, information technology and cyber security (Northrop Grumman Corporation, 2011; Yahoo Finance: Northrop Grumman Corporation, 2011).
Following the corporate wide reorganization in the company in 1998, the integrated Systems segment was formed from four operating divisions, which necessitated the launch of integrated Systems Business Management responsible for property accounting and property accountability. Within this, an Integrated Systems Financial Services Centre (FSC) was chartered in the company to be responsible for implementing and delivering property management and accounting services. The objectives of these systems are to ensure that internal and external customers receive the highest value and service (Regaldo, 2003).
