I do think there are dangers of not using the scientific method. If decisions were solely based on ethical values, the most appropriate solution(s) may be missed. Although there may be some groups or individuals that may not agree with an environmental decision because it impacts them directly, it still may be the best decision because of the factual evidence and that it will help the environment overall.
