There are various factors, which externally influence the healthcare organizations such as leaders, politicians, Governmental bodies, self help groups, NGO's and Unions. These factors influence healthcare organizations in a direct, as well as, indirect manner.

Implications of External Influence

These external influences affect the business continuity planning of the healthcare organizations in potent manner. These are as follows:

Leaders and Politicians: Leaders and Politicians have external influence on the healthcare organizations and affect their business continuity planning in a great way, as they have powerful position as compared to these organizations, which binds these organizations to execute their activities in the interest of leaders and politicians.

Governmental Bodies: Governmental institutions also exert the influence on the healthcare organizations, as they have the power to pass the planning agendas related to business continuity of these organizations in context of their healthcare practices.

Self Help Groups: Self help groups also affect the healthcare organizations, as they work for the welfare of the society people. If self help groups are not satisfied with the practices of healthcare organizations, they can raise issues regarding the business continuity planning, which further will interrupt the practices in a significant manner (Peter & Donnelly, 2002).

NGO's: NGO's are the not-for-profit organizations, which work for the welfare of the society, without any concern of earning profit, so they also externally influence the healthcare organizations by performing negative word of mouth.

Unions: The unions of workers can also affect the healthcare organizations in a significant way, as they have more power than the other parties, so they can also hamper the business continuity planning mission of the organization.

Competitors: Competitors may also affect the business continuity planning of healthcare organizations by proposing same proposal before the approval authorities (Robbins, 2005).

Recommendations to Mitigate Negative Influence

External influences affect greatly the healthcare organizations' business continuity planning, so it is essential for these organizations to develop some counter strategies, in order to mitigate the negative effect of these influences. Organizations should follow the rules and regulations set by the Governmental bodies regarding the operations, in order to comply with their norms and standards. To combat the challenges posed by the unions of workers, it is obligatory for the healthcare organizations to provide all the required benefits and facilities to the employees, which will assist them to gratify these unions in a profound manner.
