- Is Delphi method can be synonymous with such notions as 'Expert Systems', 'Expert Judgments?

Delphi Method follows a set of procedures and reaches a consensus through structured consultation between a group of people who may have very different perspectives. This method is especially useful when there is not enough published information about the subject. On the other hand Expert systems are man-machine systems with specialized problem-solving expertise. They provide consistent answers for repetitive decisions, processes and tasks but lack the human common sense needed in some decision makings. Expert Systems are generally used in organizations that have a high-level of know-how experience and expertise that cannot be easily transferred to other members. Delphi method has some similarities with Expert Systems since decisions are based on the inputs of selected experts. But in Delphi method these specialists are open to feedbacks and critiques and they may revise their earlier statements due to the responses of others. So Delphi Method is more interactive than expert systems. Participants comment on their own forecasts, the responses of others and on the progress of the panel as a whole. At any moment they can revise their earlier statements.
