2. I provided you with a header on this project in APA style. If you do not need one or your professor requests that you omit them, please delete the header from the MSWord File.
3. I provided you with more material than requested. If your professor has a cap on length, you may want to consider condensing some of the material.
4. The material request mentioned a map outlining B.P.'s organizational chart. I provided you with a small one to reference. This may or may not satisfy your need to your professor. The chart illustrates the major groups for B.P. and reflects the only data I was able to access for the organization. Your textbook may require a different style so be sure to review that prior to submission.

Introduction

B.P. Oil is a well-known organization that has been in operation for over one hundred years. B.P. was founded in 1909 as the Anglo-Persian Oil Co to develop oil fields in Persia, which is now modern-day Iran (ICIS, 2013). B.P. has a storied past that has both positive historical achievements and negative plotlines that have forever damaged the organization. One key focal point of B.P.'s history is their management practices and approaches, during its past and present operation.
B.P. and its past management

B.P. at its inception was a foreign organization attempting to capitalize from the oil products available for refinement in Persia. After three years, B.P. made an agreement with the Shah of Persia to receive a controlling share portion of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, which would allow British ships to receive their oil directly from the organization. As the APOC grew, they acquired multiple entities in the oil industry. One of those entities was the B.P. Oil Company, which at that time was largely a marketing company that operated on behalf of German oil interests in Great Britain.

B.P. employed an aggressive expansion program in its first sixty years of existence. The organization began to acquire many subsidiaries in oil producing nations and regions in the world. Many believed B.P. to be a positive company that employed ethical and sound business practices regarding the industry. APOC officially converted to B.P. in 1954 (ICIS, 2013). In the first half-century of B.P.'s operations, they faced many challenges that without good leadership would have destroyed most organizations. However, B.P. was able to address the issues head-on and persevered to become the industry giant they are today.

B.P. faced a great challenge in the beginning from their location of operation. The primary area of operation was in Persia, which is now modern-day Iran, and Mesopotamia, which is now modern-day Iraq. As most people are aware, both of these regions in the world are very volatile and present a unique challenge for any organization in which to operate, much less an oil company that derives their product directly from the land itself. After surviving overseas through two world wars, B.P. was still functioning in a world that was becoming more isolated each year.

B.P. has a management strategy in the past that afforded it the opportunity to grow and maintain a positive ...
