Cost-containment specialists can help provide insight into health care costs in the industry, provide information on best plans based on the types and size of the organization and help educate the employer of how to reduce healthcare costs with their employees. Employers must negotiate with health care insurance providers for the best price, and also measure and track health care expenses. Deductibles can be increased for employees to discourage unnecessary medical visits, and tax-free health savings accounts can be offered to employees. Different plans can be offered to employees. Dessler indicates that employees should be informed about the cost of their medical benefits and understand the investment that is involved in each health benefit.
