The immune system is an amazing instrument of the human body. The value of a healthy immune system means that the body will fight off disease. Vaccination manipulates an important component of the immune system by selectively building immunity against a pathogen that we target, and has played an important role in disease prevention and epidemiology. The topic of vaccination has become quite controversial for some people, and growing numbers of our population refuse to vaccinate their children even our modern times. In this discussion post some common arguments for versus against vaccinating. Note the sources from which you find each argument. Which arguments are supported with peer-reviewed scientific research? In your search, did you find regions in the US where diseases that were once rare have resulted in outbreaks in communities who are predominantly against vaccination?

Like any other medication, vaccines can cause side effects that can be mild and serious. Some of the side effects of vaccination are redness and swelling. Others side effect can be a headache or so.
