1. How do the biotic and abiotic components change the equilibrium of the ecosystems?
Generally it is the abiotic components that affect change in the biotic sectors. For instance the abiotic regimes (the geologic substrate (soil, etc) and climate) can create conditions that cause certain populations to boom or drop below their natural equilibrium. Like too much rainfall causing a sudden rise in fungus or mosquitoes, or drought conditions drying the soil out and killing off less resilient plant life. Another might be tsunami driving salt water inland and creating temporarily saline soils.
