# One tail z- test at 5 % level of significance

At the local burger Shop, the average wait for burgers and coke is 3.0 minutes with a Ïƒ of .7 minutes. Recently a random sample of 50 customers found that their average wait was 2.75 minutes. At the 0.05 Î±, using a 1 tail test determine if there is any statistical difference and can the proprietor state that his average wait is less than 3 minutes?

If you perform this problem correctly at step 3 you will get a negative value for the Calculated Z. Ignore the negative sign. It is telling you that you sample value is less than you population value numerically and is situated to the left of the mean.
