Since there is no specific statistical graph that you are looking to discuss I will pick a few and talk about them below; but in general you want to think about what graph you are going to create so that it examines what you are interested in. For example if you want to see if a manufacturing process is in control you would likely want a control chart. A control chart will look for patterns in the samples and it will look to see if any data points are outside a upper or lower control limit. Another type of plot that you might want to see is something that will compare two different data sets. If this is the case it would be a good idea to use a bar chart which will displate discrete data in separate columns for multiple data sets.
