The publisher of Golf Illustrated has found through past experience that 50% of its subscribers renew their subscriptions. The publisher selects a random sample of 200 subscribers and finds that 84 plan to renew their subscriptions.
Does the sample data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that less than 50% of subscribers to Golf Illustrated plan to renew their subscriptions? If so, how strong is this evidence? Use a hypothesis testing procedure and an alpha=0.5. Be sure to clearly state the null and alternate hypothesis using proper notation.
