    Both ordinal and level scales have an underlying order to them. Ordinal scales are, to an extent, a ranking system with an undetermined distance between variables. Think about when you participate in a poll; you are sometimes asked, "The service you received exceeded your expectations: Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, Not Applicable." Now each answer has points assigned to it, say 4 for the best and 1 for the worst ... and 9 ...
