    What does a confidence interval tell us about our population?

    The purpose of statistics is to make inferences about a population based on information contained in a sample. One of the ways we can make an inference about a population is to select a sample from that population and estimate one of the characteristics of the population by with a confidence interval calculated from the data in the sample.
