    My rationale for choosing this category to develop my final paper is no matter what religion we are we tend to celebrate others beliefs in our holiday's i.e. Cinco De Mayo, fasting, and Hanukkuh etc.

    Celebrations and festivals hold together social ties to a specific community or group even if the basis of the celebration or festival is on a religious, cultural, or ethnic foundation. Many festivals begin as small celebrations among a small group of people usually from within a specific environment (i.e. village or town) and then, over time, the festival becomes an event that is characteristic to that particular community and can eventually become a form of economic gain in the form of tourism (at the national level).

    Festivals and celebrations are influenced and can influence the socio-cultural and socio-economic environment of the community. They can align culture, and cultural outcomes, with social and economic policy priorities.

    Festivals are also susceptible to bureaucracy even though they were once an endeavour by a few to strengthen social cohesion among community members. This usually occurs when a festival becomes an "organization" in which there is a board and/or board of directors established thus there are stakeholders who have to be consulted regularly in order for the celebrations to take place through a decision making process. In this way, festivals are susceptible to organizational change processes.
