The missile defense system in place in the United States has caused Europe to request the same type of protections for itself. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is in charge of providing such a system to defend against missiles against countries from other countries. Antimissile programs include such weapons as missiles that can strike down incoming missiles and future laser tracking and elimination defenses from space. A lot of the original ideas were not economically feasible for the United States, but as time has passed and technology improved, this is not necessarily the case.
