What is an entitlement program? Basically, it is a government run program that provides assistance to individuals usually financially but can also be in the form of housing, food, and other kinds of services. Generally speaking, entitlement programs are benefits promised by law to individuals or families meeting certain requirements. Beneficiaries of entitlement programs can also be businesses and certain organizations, political parties, or local governments that benefit from federally funded programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.
