Determine, using the chemical balance equations, the stoichiometric fuel:air ratio for the complete combustion of C12H26 in air of 21% Oxygen, 78% nitrogen. Using this value of AFR, determine the combustion temperature rise for a typical gas turbine (T2 = 250C).

Note the two charts provide different ranges on the vertical and horizontal axes, but are otherwise part of the one chart.

It is conventional to define combustion efficiency in terms of the actual heat release in the combustor at the actual conditions in comparison to the potential heat released by the chemical combustion of the same amount of fuel in the presence of sufficient air for stoichiometric combustion. However applying this concept of comparing the ideal and actual temperature rise, the graph can also be used to perform a quick determination of combustor efficiency from the plot of temperature rise for given fuel to air ratios with similar values for n_b.
