Vertical Acceleration
Not what you're looking for?
A 5.5 kg object hangs at one end of a rope that is attached to a support on a railroad boxcar.
When the car accelerates to the right, the rope makes an angle of 24 degrees with the vertical the acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2 :
Find the acceleration of the car. (Hint: aobject = acar)
Answer in units of m/s^2.
Picture a train box car on wheels accelerating to the right. Place a dotted line vertically in the middle of the box car. From the top of the box car where you split it in half with the dotted line the rope with the 5.5kg mass hangs from this pint, and even though it says 24 degrees from the vertical then the ball of 5.5kg mass is at 256 degrees as the box car moves to the right.
