Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Laws are regulations governing the processing of Federal sector discrimination complaints are contained in Title 29 C.F.R., Part 1614. These regulations also define the role of the counselors, managers, supervisors, and witnesses. One area is age discrimination.

The Age Discrimination Act of 1975 prohibits discrimination on the basis of age in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. The Act, which applies to all ages, permits the use of certain age distinctions and factors other than age that meet the Act's requirements. The Age Discrimination Act is enforced by the Civil Rights Center.

Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967, as amended where the ADEA prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of age (40 years or older). Under the ADEA, no employer may discriminate based on age with respect to any term, condition, or privilege of employment - including, but not limited to, hiring, firing, promotion, layoff, compensation, benefits, job assignments, and training. Unlike Title VII and the Rehabilitation Act, the ADEA allows persons claiming age discrimination to go directly to court without going through an agency's administrative complaint procedures.
