The evaluations of these employees would be handled very differently for one reason, which is the fact that in a police department, parole office, or any other position that a person has the autonomy and authority to deprive someone of their freedom, should ensure that the people in these positions follow procedures. Therefore, results are not important if the person obtaining the results has not followed procedure, as this could result in justification to engage in any unethical behavior that is required to achieve results. Therefore, for the senior official will need to be evaluated in regard to his motivation to determine if he is still motivated to provide those on probation the best opportunity to be reformed as motivation is imperative for this career.
