Although I understand that precautions should have been exercised similar to tactics as we have today to combat terrorists, I personally deem McCarthyism as too aggressive and inappropriate. Please note how it generated nationwide fear and panic. It led to finger pointing, accusations, and a sense of prevalent paranoia.
