The Constitution for the state of Alabama is huge compared to that of Arizona and even the Constitution of the United States. The Alabama Constitution gives little self-determination to individual counties and cities so most local decisions need to be voted on by the state assembly and are governed by the state constitution. The Alabama Constitution is the longest still used constitution in the world being over 10 times longer than most state constitutions and 40 times longer than the Constitution of the United States.
