There were actually several waves on price revolutions; however, the most pronounced would be the 16th century. This was immediately after the "Black death" which killed a quarter of Europe's population. The advent of the plague caused a scarcity in production of food as a large portion of the population was dying. This lack of manpower caused production to falter.
