Paraphrase the following passage:
Members of a US jury are set to take their seats next month as part of an unfolding courthouse drama that has already inflamed emergency care staff across the country. Missouri emergency nurse Leslie Brown (pictured above) faces two charges of failing to report signs of child abuse. She denies the charges but could be sentenced to two years in jail and fined $2,000 if found guilty. It is claimed that Ms Brown failed to report bruising along the spine and under one of the eyes of two-year-old Dominic James when he presented to Springfield emergency services. That was 11 days before he died, allegedly at the hands of his foster father. The case has caused uproar across the US, with nurses and other healthcare professionals demonstrating in support for Ms Brown and to raise awareness of child abuse prevention. They believe that Ms Brown is being victimised, that innocent nurses will quit the profession to avoid facing similar charges and that parents will be put off seeking health care for their children. Here in the UK, secretary of the RCN child in A&E network Anita Trehane has branded the events 'disgusting'. Prosecutors claim that they do not want Ms Brown to be jailed or lose her license. They say they only want healthcare professionals to realise their legal obligations to report signs of possible abuse. But this cuts little ice with Ms Brown's supporters, who suggest that about 25 people were involved in managing the boy's care including more than 20 mandated abuse reporters. If previous court appearances are anything to go by, the start of the trial next month is likely to see further protests by healthcare staff, armed with placards reading 'Stop The Witch Hunt' and, referring to Missouri's Department of Family Services (DFS), 'Attacking the Innocent Medical Profession To Protect The Real Criminals In The DFS'. Meanwhile, the case has also raised concerns over workforce retention and workload. According to Mary Tuel of the Ozark chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association, experienced nurses are considering leaving the profession because it is 'time to get out and do something else'.
