Altimeter Reading at Sea Level
Not what you're looking for?
Please provide some help with this problem, the answer is 5186m, 16.6m below sea level but I need to understand why:
An aeroplane is fitted with an altimeter calibrated assuming the atmosphere meets the ISA specification. On a day when sea level pressure and temperature are 101,500 N/m2 and 25 degrees the altimeter reads 5000m. What is the true altitude of the plane above sea level? What would be the indicated altitude after landing at an aerodrome located at sea level? (Gas const = R=288 J/KgK).
