There is not necessarily a set list of qualities that makes someone a good mentor as opposed to an adequate mentor. It is not necessary to be perfect in order to be a mentor. However, generally speaking, there are some personal qualities that certainly help in the process. Some personal characteristics can make it very difficult for others to accept your advice and input into their lives while other personal characteristics seem to draw others to you. Having confidence that the mentor is authentic can inspire the follower to confidently persevere even in hard times.
