Being an advocate is essential in any helping profession. Although, it may seem like an easy task there is a lot of responsibility placed on a person advocating on someone else's behalf. I've found that when you can approach your position firmly grounded on factual research and can provide evidence that the intervention for which you are advocating has had demonstrated success you are more likely to receive a favorable response. While you may feel very passionate about a person's need for intervention or services, you need to try to communicate in as an impartial advocate; you need to try to see both sides of an issue.
