The Current Process:
The current process, the silo process, or the AS-IS process related to the firm where I work. The company makes molded plastic toys.

The process starts when our company sales persons observe a new trend in plastic molded toys in stores. The demand for new toys is conveyed to the marketing department of my company where the marketing manager evaluates the cost, price, and practicality of producing the new toy. He may reject the request or he may forward the request to the design department. The designing department examines the feasibility of designing and making the toy. Next, the department creates a rough sketch and makes changes to the design. Finally, the designing department makes a final sketch and sends it to plastic molding teams for action.

The team leader of the molding team first determines if a wooden frame can be made from the design. Next, the team leader uses machine tools to cut and assemble a wooden pattern. The leader then attempts to make cast iron molds that can be used for making plastic molds. If these molds cannot be made then the design is rejected.
If the cast iron molds can be made, then the team evaluates if the current raw materials with team, namely plastic pellets, master batch pellets, and additives are suitable for making. They order new raw materials, conduct tests, or reject the design.

If the design is approved, cast iron molds are created. These are used in the plastic molding machines and the raw material is poured into these machines. After this, the final molds are ready for finishing, packaging, and transporting.
