You can be sure that some of these billionaires have pets. Each day, over a billion people in the world lack basic food needs. No doubt many of these are children.

This makes sense in a market economy. Each company is working to maximize its profits, and this means selling wherever there's a market. Poor people cannot provide a market for goods. This is not to say that the cats are fed instead of the children. Even if there weren't any pets, extra food would not go to the children. ...
