Most organizations and business today run on the basis of IT solutions and would halt without the application of software systems. To effectively manage software system development, it's extremely important for the IT professionals to understand the overall business operations of the organization that will sponsor a project or projects to manage project inception, development, implementation and user acceptance. Without this 'bird's eye view' or holistic view as correctly coined, of the organization and the relationship of the project and its application to the business, there is a risk of project failure.

What does it mean to take a systems view of a project? How does taking a systems view of a project apply to project management?
