The organization that I am familiar is with makes molded plastic parts. The organization's supply chain begins with its suppliers. There are three type of suppliers. The first is the supplier of plastic pellets. The pellets must be of the prescribed quality to ensure that the plastic parts have the required break strength. The second supplier is that of master batch or the coloring pellets supplier. The color should one that the company needs. The color supply should match the specifications given to the supplier. The third supplier is the additive supplier. He is an importer who imports the additive required. Additives are important to give the required strength and flexibility to the plastic molded parts.
The internal supply chain consists of the purchase department. This department issues orders and receives deliveries from the suppliers. The deliveries received are matched with the purchase orders and only after matching are the deliveries accepted and transferred to the inventory. From the inventory on receiving requisition from the production, department, suppliers are released to the production department.
