The primary source of revenue in Nebraska general budget is divided into two parts i.e. tax revenue and non-tax revenue. Tax revenues includes income tax, sales & use tax, alcoholic beverage tax, cigarette tax, corporation occupation tax, documentary stamp tax, financial institution tax, mechanical amusement devices tax, transfer tax, organization and qualification fees, uranium severance tax, etc. while non-tax revenues includes fees related to permit, license, and review and it also cover financial gain from state lands & buildings and machineries and other private sources.

Besides the tax and non-tax revenues, Nebraska government also receives funds from numerous other small sources of revenues such as business and franchise taxes and interest on the investment of state funds is the another significant source of revenue (Nebraska Revenue Sources, 2003).
