Consider the following data on jobs waiting to be processed on a single machine in a job shop. They are listed here in order of their arrival at the machine:
a) If these jobs are sequenced in shortest operating (processing) time order, what will be the average flowtime (days)?
b) If these jobs are scheduled in order of the due-date, what will be the average number of days late for the jobs? (A job that is early is zero days late.)
