The Army Reserve and National Guard are affected by the ACFT and ABCP. According to the ALARACT 046/2022, effective from April 1, 2023, for the reserve component, the individual must have a passing record ACFT to reenlist. If there is a diagnostic ACFT, it may be re-characterized to a record ACFT and used for reenlistment. The Army Reserve and National Guard who fail a record ACFT after October 1 get flagged. After that, they have to wait for 120 days before retaking the ACFT. An individual who has two consecutive ACFT failures will face consequences depending on the decisions by the commanders (a).

Also, the ABCP or the Army Body Compositional Program, those Army Reserve and National Guard who exceed the height/ weight standards get a flag on their records. This personnel is referred to the Army Body Composition Program (c). The Army Reserve and National Guard who get a flag on their record are subject to consequences. These include having Form 268 placed on their record to stop favorable personnel actions. These include non-promotions, no assignments to command, and cannot to attend military schools/ institutions (AR 350-1). The flagged personnel are enrolled in ABCP immediately, may have an appointment with a dietician, complete and return their Soldier Action Plan, and must participate in monthly ABCP assessments. The individual must meet the body fat standard to be released from ABCP. In addition, the flagged individual may request an AWC evaluation, or a medical examination if there is an underlying medical condition.
