National origin is among the protected classes under Title VII protection. In the light of the 911 attacks, there has been a great deal of discussion to reconsider the idea of protecting national origin. Some national defense experts state that the country should reconsider all laws pertaining to national origin because of their claim that national origin is among the strongest key indicators in the search for terrorists. Please respond with your opinion regarding this issue.

There are several factors to consider in this situation. First of all, this is never going to happen, because of the effects it will create. If the law is amended to take national origin out as being a protection, employers would be able to use national origin as an excuse as to why they refuse to hire an otherwise qualified candidate. The employer merely would have to state that they feel the candidate poses a threat to security, safety, terrorism, etc., and therefore should not be hired, because they do not want that individual working for the company because he or she is of X origin.
