There are different ways to draw a sample group; some better than others, and the above sampling technique represents purposeful sampling.

Let's look at the four common ways are to understand why it represents purposeful sampling and not the other three types of sampling:

(1) Random sampling. This is generally considered the best sampling approach because it requires that everyone be considered for selection ? names or numbers are drawn without preference. You assign random numbers to each member of the population (teachers, students, schools, etc.) and select the sample using a table of random numbers or draw from the hat until you have the total needed for your sample group.
